Shi Portrait COMMISSION

This is a fantastic portrait, which immediately grabbed my attention. The eyes seemingly draw you into the painting, and the little details, such as the eyelashes and slight smile definitely are key features of this picture! The simple background also is brilliant, the colours creating 'energy' in the piece while keeping the focus on the character, another brilliant point.

I just love how you've kept a semi realistic style through this, the use of some anime style keeps the character the same but your use of realism gives Shi a whole new life! The piece has incredible impact, a wonderful technique to give such smooth but vibrant skin and cloth, and the entire picture melds together harmoniously.

Since this is a critique though, I scoured the image for several minutes and found almost nothing out of place. The eyes seem slightly uneven in relation to themselves, however, this doesn't take away from the picture, just something i noticed. As well, the pattern of his shirt could be made to curve round his shoulders to give more depth, and the plate holding the village mark could have been made bigger, but please note the 'could's. This piece looks wonderful as it is.


All in all a wonderful and inspiring piece per usual DKSTUDIOS05, and as per usual i look forward to seeing more of your incredible work.
